CAT TESTIMONIALS
As a breeder of Himalayan & Persian cats, I am frequently
asked questions about feline healthcare. These discussions come up among breeders, with people getting a new pet, and
with existing pet owners with questions about the care of felines of all ages. If you have a cat, dog or any other living
thing - chances are at some point it will require some level of healthcare. Just like we get colds, so can cats.
Just like we have allergies, so can cats. Just like we can have a nervous stomach, so can a cat.
I have literally spent hours researching information to address the questions
discussed among both feline breeders and owners. But- let me clearly state that I am NOT a vet. nor I do not advocate abandoning
normal vet care. More times than not, good vet care takes care of any problems. But there are clearly times when
"something else" is perhaps needed or should be considered, if traditional methods have been tried and been unsuccessful.
In Spring 2010
a really nice woman who was getting a kitten from me was concerned about its flight to her, whether flying stresses the kittens.
She told me she uses a holistic remedy for her dog and herself - for calming effects, and she suggested I might try
it for kittens being shipped. I never did. Then in a single week I had the following chain of events
that brought that recommendation back to mind:
A
show breeder told me she never goes to a cat show without a holistic remedy in her bag to keep her cats calm.
A vet friend of mine had a cat with chronic diarrhea that didn't respond to traditional
treatments but was cured with a "holistic concoction" within two days!
A
friend with a sick, aging cat had taken it to specialists and nothing done helped. She heard about YOUNG LIVING products
from a friend of hers whose horse had been cured with YOUNG LIVING treatments, after traditional vet care had been unsuccessful.
She tried them with her senior cat and it made a world of difference. So much so that she now takes various remedies
for herself. And it is through her that I became aware of these products and have spent time researching the products
and the company - and using them myself!
An issue of Cat Fancy magazine had an
article about the benefits of certain holistic remedies.
CAT STRESS
SASHA, one of my young females in my Himalayan
& Persian breeding program. When she was less than a year old and had never been around newborn kittens, a new litter
of kittens running around and playing as they grew obviously stressed her a bit. Anyway, she began over-grooming herself,
like a nervous habit. I had never had one of my cats do this and at this particular time, I had two young females that
began over-grooming - which I thought was a bit bizarre. I don't know if one picked up the habit watching the other
or just what, but I've been breeding for years and had never had this experience. So, it seemed like more than coincidence.
The cat in the photo below is SAMANTHA. Once she had her first babies, she became
compulsive about grooming them. She would just have the poor dears damp all over from licking them. Since this
was new to me, I researched it and learned that some cats will become compulsive groomers if they are feeling stressed.
Now, I can look around and wonder why any of my cats would be stressed. They have a great life and get lots of love.
But, to a cat change = stress. New kittens, first-time mom = change. Once I felt I understood the reason for the
compulsive grooming, I began treating both girls with LAVENDER oil. I
just rubbed a tiny bit into their fur, not even into their skin. Samantha stopped over-grooming her babies almost immediately.
I had to give Sasha a couple of treatments before she stopped. But - they both did stop within a couple of days of the
first treatment with Lavender oil. From this experience, I can highly recommend Lavender
oil for stress-relief in cats!

VARIOUS AILMENTS IN CATS
Debbie,
A little over a year ago, we lost our beloved cat
to liver disease. Of course, the first thing we did when he got ill was
rush him to the vet. We then learned we needed to force feed him, give him numerous antibiotics, steroids, and other
medications, which I knew would also be hard on his liver and organs. He ended up with a feeding tube, and we lost him
2 months later. Last August, his brother began showing the same symptoms and was diagnosed with IBD. He, too,
was placed on antibiotics and steroids, which eased his symptoms temporarily. After much research, and coming to the
conclusion that our first cat had most likely started with IBD which leads to liver failure, and the fact that there can be
a genetic factor, we refused to put him through the same treatment. We felt there had to be a better, natural
way. I remembered a friend of mine had told me of a time a few years ago that her horse
had developed an abscess on her lung,
and was given antibiotics, but was given no hope, and was not responding to treatment. She wouldn't accept that,
and called a Young Living distributor who immediately began treating her horse with Young Living products and liver powder.
To make a long story short, that was about 6 years ago, and her horse if alive and well today. Needless to say, I gave
her Young Living distributor a call, and began our cat on Young
Living oils andNingXia Red. Today he is doing great,
and we just commented the other day how much younger and spry he looks--his eyes look so bright and full of life. We
also have a 10 month old Persian that was suffering from chronic diarrhea, and after three rounds of antibiotics, and only easing the symptoms while he was on the medication,
we decided to try Living Young oils and NingXia Red
on him, too. He is doing so well and still is on the treatments. I
also use their oils and NingXia Red and feel great and sleep so well. I highly recommend the Young Living oils and products! I only wish I would have known about Young Living
in time to save our first cat. His brother turned 13 years old last month, and we know he would not be with us today,
if it weren't for Young Living.

(I asked Sue if she would share her story here for others to read and
permission to post their photos from my Lapeyrouse Himalayans & Persians website for you to see what beautiful
cats Sue has whose quality of life was improved by Young Living products. )
Not
all essential oils are actually safe for animals. Young Living Essential Oils ARE
safe for use with
animals, but a scant amount may be all that is
needed. Better to use a little and repeat the
application until sensitivity
and tolerance is known.

General
Instructions
Never put essential oils in a fish tank!
Dilute in order to avoid skin sensitivity. On rare occasion, when essential oils are applied topically, the skin may be red, itchy or hot.
Applying V-6 or olive oil will provide relief. Neat (undiluted) applications may be used later
Keep stronger essential oils such as oregano, peppermint, cinnamon, etc. to
be used on the bottom of the feet rather than diffusing in a closed/non-ventilated pet area as their lungs
are more sensitive than adults and strong oil smells may cause breathing discomfort.
Never place IN ear canal, nose or eyes. Oils can be applied to the bony area around the ear
or eye to relieve a variety of complaints. If oils are accidentally used in the ear canal, nose or eyes, they may be uncomfortable
for a while but will not cause damage. Never rinse the oil with water as this will only spread the oil further.
Use a carrier oil such as Young Living V-6 or olive oil to dab off the excess essential oil.
Putting oils on your pet's feet may be of effective against symptoms due
to common seasonal health conditions
Massage
is especially calming to most pets.
You can
cold-air diffuse the oils every day if there is good ventilation. Essential Oils when Diffused (cold air diffuse
only) will remove metallic particulates and toxins from the air, increase atmospheric oxygen, increase ozone and negative
ions in the area and destroys odors. Diffusing essential oils
into your pet area will disperse the oils into the air. Oils travel through the nasal passage into the lungs and then
to the body with their powerful anti-septic, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It
is fine to diffuse Young Living Essential Oils into the air with your pets in the room.
IMPORTANT INFO
ABOUT TREATING CATS & DOGS WITH ESSENTIAL OILS
CAUTION: Cats are more sensitive
to essential oils, so great care must be taken to dilute the concentrated essential oils with a mixing oil. Mix 1-3
drops of the essential oil into 10 drops or 1 oz. of Young Living V-6 MASSAGE OIL or you can
use organic virgin olive oil. Just dip the end
of a toothpick into the mixture and massage that small amount onto the tummy or the paw pads. I've also just
lightly run certain oils, like Lavender, through the fur for external treatments such as stress. SCROLL DOWN TO SEE SOME CAT
TESTIMONIALS.
Never apply THIEVES
neat (undiluted) to a cat without following with carrier oil.
A cats' liver processes essential oils differently than a human or dog
liver. Thus, it is wise to use extremely dilute mixtures with cats. Never try to dilute essential oils with water. Always dilute essential oils with a high quality carrier oil such as Young Living's V-6 or organic virgin olive oil.
Pets may ingest an essential oil with a small amount of canned pet food. Oral application
can be every effective in combating teething pain in young kittens and puppies, intestinal issues, support the immune
and digestive systems and a host of other body functions. This can't be done with other brands, especially synthetic oils.
